Who We Are

Trinity Anglican Church is a welcoming and lively yet traditional community of believers. As a congregation we have been worshiping in Bakersfield since 1879. We are rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the historic faith of the church. Our worship is liturgical, because we believe that the steady rhythms of the liturgy can help form us as disciples of Jesus.

We believe that we grow in our faith best through relationships. Therefore, we are intentional about building community, especially in Small Groups. We lament the loneliness that more and more people experience in the digital age. Trinity is a place to get plugged into a more meaningful community.

We are committed to serving the wider community--including especially those less fortunate. Many of our members are involved in service through prison and life-recovery ministries, elderly care, and homeless ministries.

All of this can be summarized in our Vision statement: We are growing as disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, learning, fellowship and outreach.

What We Believe

  • We are Biblical: The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the revealed and authoritative Word of God
  • We are Credal: The Nicene Creed is the sufficient statement of the Christian faith
  • We are Anglican: The 39 Articles embody the historic Anglican confession of faith
  • We are Sacramental: We affirm the necessity of the two Sacraments ordained by Jesus: Baptism and Holy Communion; and we recognize the Church's five additional sacramental rites of Confirmation, Ordination, Unction, Confession, and Holy Matrimony
  • We are under Authority: We hold to the historic succession of bishops, and are under the godly leadership of Bishop Eric V. Menees and the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin

THE NICENE CREED

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look + for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
